Boy Without God‘s album, God Bless the Hunger, sounds at once classic and strikingly fresh. Behind the pseudonym, Boy Without God, is Boston native, New York-based, singer-songwriter Gabriel Birnbaum, a young man with a powerful, soothing baritone of a voice. Beneath Boy Without God’s voice is a range of lyrics that cover love, sex, life and death. I think the press release that led me to discover Boy Without God put it perfectly by writing,”This is music about being human.”
It comes as no surprise that Birnbaum grew up among a musically-talented family. His brother is a jazz pianist, his sister, a classical cellist. Birnbaum studied tenor saxophone throughout high school and, since 2006, has been writing music and performing under the Boy Without God name.
His newest album, God Bless the Hunger, will be released June 21. We can’t wait. In the meantime, listen to samples of other albums of his(such as Your Body is Your Soil) here
