Considered one of the most important composers and singers in the new Brazilian Popular Music scene, Pedro Moraes is one of the leaders of a generation that has been breaking ground in brazilian songwriting. Never losing sight of his opus as a composer, Pedro started, in 2003, a very successful parallel career as a samba interpreter, springing from the traditional bohemian neighborhood of Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, to nation-wide touring with the ensemble “É com esse que eu vou”. He released his first solo album in 2007, Claroescuro, a vigorous showcase of brazilian rhythms, with Pedro´s harmonically rich guitar underlying surprising, unconventional melodies, blending the pulsation of traditional brazilian culture with a contemporary outlook open to the world. Moraes´ songs combine samba, salsa, forró, visiting some modern classics of Brazil while paying tribute to the brazilian folk roots of contemporary music. 08/29/10
