When Bollywood actor/singer Shah Rukh Khan spoke up recently about the exclusion of Pakistani cricketers in the IPL (Indian Premier League), his words did not go unnoticed. Members of the right-leaning political party Shiv Sena were listening, and as a result of his statement, are ordering an apology from Khan. If none is given, Khan's upcoming film, 'My Name is Khan,' which is expected to rival and even surpass 'Slumdog Millionaire' in popularity, could be banned in Mumbai.
Khan has already declared he will not apologize, citing that his personal ideologies and his film career should not be considered related. "The controversy is with me and my statement," Bollywood World reports Khan as stating. "It has nothing to do with Karan (Johar), Kajol or the film. I stand up for my comments... there is no excuse for having said what I said and I am proud that I have a take like that.
"Khan's words are never taken lightly. In 2008, Newsweek placed the actor and vocalist on of the 50 most powerful people in the world. He is also heavily invested in the game of cricket being the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, a team that plays in the IPL. 02/04/10
