Bright, shiny, beautiful - that’s the traditional East African sound of Samite Mulondo. In this case, African music is not about percussion. Kalimba, guitars, cello, flute, accordion, penny whistle, horns, piccolo and bass are used to capture a range of emotions. And even without drums, there’s infectious rhythm aplenty. The Ugandan-born, American-based Samite, composer, musician, humanitarian, is donating proceeds from “Trust” to Musicians For World Harmony, which brings music and music therapy to those distresssed and displaced by conflict. He’s the founding director of the non-profit. This is wonderful music benefitting a wonderful cause. Visit www.trustcd.org.
