SOSALA: NEW WORLD TRASH Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi’s debut release intermixes his nine tracks with jazz and world music with emphasis on his Persian roots. SoSaLa grew up in Switzerland and Germany, moved to Japan at age 19, and came to New York four years ago at age 55 because "I thought there would be a niche for me here, after 9/11, as a Muslim who is a good person." Right from his opener, Ja-Jou-Ka, he calls out for unity and freedom. His third track, Welcome New Iran, grew out of his involvement in the Green Movement for revolution and regime change in Iran during the June 2009 protests when protesters were killed and jailed. DooBeeDoo Records, $12.97. 04/04/12
