Those who have enjoyed Burlap to Cashmere’s Mediterranean-influenced brand of acoustic rock should love Del Castillo’s Infinitas Rapsodias CD + DVD package.
Re-recorded versions of some of their best Latin-tinged material and a few superb new songs flow seamlessly together, with a substantial bonus DVD.
They specialise in uplifting anthems, finished with flamenco fire (just try “Lumbres de Babylon” or “Canta de Alma” on YouTube).
To get an idea of their roots, the DVD covers include the unusual bedfellows of the Doobie Brothers’ “Listen to the Music” (very close to the original), a bluesy account of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and (at nine minutes long) a slightly over-egged “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”
