About:
COPAL
Copal blends the haunting sounds of violin and cello with world rhythms, folktronic sounds, and original melodies rooted in global traditions. NYC-based band, lead by violinist Hannah Thiem and a cast of talented collaborators, weaves sounds ranging from ambient and textural moods, to dynamic string and rhythmic dialogs, to upbeat ethnic-flavored dance music. Copal has shared the stage with diverse and talented groups such as Delhi 2 Dublin, Vagabond Opera, Luminescent Orchestrii, and Haale.
Copal's new album "Into the Shadow Garden," (out Nov. 4, 2010), is a rich sonic tapestry of cultural and textural palettes. The music draws from Eastern European, Middle Eastern, and Nordic melodic inspirations fused with indie rock and ethereal influences. Where the dreams and memories of an old world elegance meet the rakish flair of a ruffled modernity--join Copal in a forgotten land of the imagination.
