Huun Huur Tu have traveled a long way to bring you their uncanny sound. Originally from Tuva, a Russian republic on the Mongolian border, the group formed around a desire to work with traditional Tuvan folk songs. Since then, they have incorporated contemporary Tuvan works — not to mention guitars and electronics on occasion — into their repertoire. If you haven't yet witnessed the spectacle of multiple notes and textures simultaneously issuing from one mouth, this is your lucky day. In fact, this may be one of the best ways to start the new year: by seeing the inconceivably unique art of throat-singing live. 01/27/11
