Musicians from five continents will gather in Bloomington for the 17th annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival. Twenty-five acts will play the event, scheduled for Thursday through Sunday.
Among the exotic instruments to be showcased is the txalaparta (pronounced CHOLL-uh-PART-uh). Harkaitz Martinez and Mikel Ugarte play the Basque percussion instrument -- planks struck by sticks that are held upright -- in their Oreka TX duo.
Oreka TX will perform Friday night and Saturday night at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, as well as oversee a free workshop Saturday afternoon at Third Street Park.
