Even without the seven minute-long video, hearing Systema Solar’s “Malpalpitando” would be a trip. The hypnotically rhythmic track off the the group’s self-titled debut pounds and throbs with what feels like a life of its own.
With the video it could stop your day dead in its tracks.

Compared to the festival atmosphere of the video for “Bienvenido” the new video reveals a very different face of the Colombian electro-folk collective.
We’ll say it again: there’s been a real trend for ratcheting up the intensity in music videos lately by using violent imagery. This one competes with the snuff films for making a powerful impact but nobody dies in it. Bonus!
In this video, instead of dancing through the streets with the band, you journey into the rainforest in search of shamanic visions. It kind of challenges prevailing notions of what psychedelic music is.
