Born in Barcelona, Daniel Cros began his professional career at the age of 17 in 1964, performing in local bands as a vocalist and guitar player. Daniel has progressively studied pop, jazz, Latin rhythms and has brought all these genres together into one unique style.
“Las vueltas que da la vida” his latest CD joins a selection of 12 songs that represent 12 key moments in the artist’s career. The songs were recorded at Rosazul his percussion studios in Havana with his quartet. Beginning with songwriting in the U.S. and moving on to his meeting with La Vieja Trova Santiaguera. Daniel shared the stage in front of a large audience with the Cuban group at the Festival Internacional de la Cançó d’Empúries in Girona, Spain.
After attending an Afrocuban seminar and later extending percussion studies at Conjunto Nacional Folklórico in La Habana, he started developing his own style. Daniel chracterized the fusion of latin rhythms, jazz improvisation and songwriting while continuing to honor the original percussion patterns taught to him by his fellow cuban musicians.
Special guests on “Las vueltas que da la vida” is an impressive line-up of musicians: Cuba’s Raul Fuentes on piano, Yoan Sanchez on percussion and Rafael Coello “el Pochi” on trumpet, Catalan Ferran Cubedo on the baby bass and Daniel Cros who wrote and composed all of the songs, sings, plays piano, Spanish guitar and lute as well as also creating the CD artwork.
Daniel Cros has the ambition to create classics as he masters his art. He is also a performer that passionately creates a world, where love (lost & found) is the only thing that matters. He uses art and expression in a way that gives true meaning to his music.
