Feufollet is a novelty no more. Accordionist and vocalist Chris Stafford co-founded the band with fiddler Chris Segura in the late 1990s at age 9; Stafford’s younger brother Michael, a drummer, joined at age 7. The cover of Feufollet’s self-titled debut looks like it was shot during recess at a grade school. A dozen years later, the musicians are seasoned Cajun music veterans at the vanguard of a youthful reinvigoration of southwest Louisiana music.
The Stafford brothers, Segura, bilingual vocalist Anna Laura Edmiston, guitarist Josh Caffery and bassist Phillippe Billeaudeaux have just released a new CD, “En Couleurs.” Sung entirely in French, it intermingles traditional Cajun songs with new compositions by the band. They’ll play much of it tonight at d.b.a.
