Happy Sing,
CD Review
>>
I got five songs of Kartick and Gotam from EarthSync a few days back. Here is a review of those songs.
The first song happens to be Bonjour, which is a theme piece with percussion beats in the background and flutes and vocals taking most of the fore, generally at different times. The end comes as the best part where background fuses with the vocals and flutes together. Something that starts in a meditative mood and ends up giving you quite a high.
The second one, Tamil Bossa, is a wonderful piece that starts with wind instruments and comes up to BhagvadGeeta’s ‘nainam chhindanti shastrani.’ The background has some wonderful fusion of so many instruments that I can’t probably count, even beeps making some part of it. But the good, and somewhat surprising thing is that it all comes together pretty good, making Tamil Bossa a good song to listen to.
Third song, Boye Boye, starts with an air hostess’ voice in the background after which a beautiful tune starts that seems somewhat like an old Bollywood tune. This tune moves into something blank and quickly moves on to a lovable experience where Boye Boye starts. When the vocals start, all I wish is to know the words so that I could sing them with those singing it. Boye Boye is simply a delight to listen to.
The next song, Shiva Sheva has both Eastern and Western instruments and has something what I may call a fusion with alternating dominance, though the Eastern music seems to have an upper hand here. Another song with quite a variety and range of instruments, with even claps making part of it. A kinda soft, meditative thing. Lovable.
The final song, rututu, is an interesting piece. It has something like an espionage tune running with most of the music being Electronica. Not exactly the fusion of East and West but nevertheless good.
Besides these songs, the one I loved quite lot from the previews was ‘Hear comes the funk’ which happens to be the last song of the album Business Class Refugees.
Overall, Business Class Refugees of Kartick and Gotam is a wonderful fusion of Eastern and Western music and some of their tracks are simply great. Of the tracks I got to review here, I would highly recommend Boye Boye and Shiva Sheva if you are into this different kind of music. And if you are not yet, I think here is the time to give it a try.
