Perhaps you can set in motion your entire week as a result of listening to the forward-moving sounds of Sonia Brex’s recently-released album, ”Naif.” The sultry, techno-pop tunes of “Naif” move in undulating tones with minimal lyrics that come from Brex’s soulful, easing voice, as each track moves forward effortlessly in a seemingly natural and rhythmically-propelled motion.
Brex, whose roots reach back to southern Italy, has spent the last two decades living in Berlin, and has derived some of her musical inspiration from the bustling city itself, along with musicians she admires who are (or were) also based in the German capital city. Of course, much of Brex’s music comes as a result of her natural talent and ability–her voice is beautifully rich, and the perfect complement to the techno-heavy tunes she plays with in her newest album. What’s more, Brex’s techno-inspired tunes are not as fast-paced and neurotic-sounding as some you might hear in a European club. Rather, they’re more natural and soothing; inspiring peace and calm while simultaneously involving upbeat rhythms and sounds.
