A strong set from the Ethiopian groove-inspired Debo Band – a Boston based group with a deep love of Ethio jazz and funk – doing it proudly on this EP of live recordings from their trip to East Africa in the winter of 2010! Captured during their short residency an Addis Ababa nightclub, it's a completely solid, vibrant interpretation of classic brass-heavy funk & jazz of 70s Ethiopia. Guest vocalist Selamnesh Zemene and traditional drummer Asrat Ayalew perform with the group, which includes vocalist Bruck Tesfaye, accordionist Stacey Cordeiro, violinists Kaethe Hostetter and Jonah Rapino, sax players Danny Mekonnen and Abye Osman, guitarist Brendon Wood, sousaphone player Arik Grier, bass player PJ Goodwin and drummer Keith Waters. Includes "Musicawi Silt", "Belomi Benna", "Mignoten Man Yawkal" and "Lantchi Biye" 07/17/11
